History

Formula one engineer David Barford, 42, from East Hunsbury, Northamptonshire, an employee of Cosworth Engineering took 8 years to build his 'Betterfly', a 22 meter span, carbon fibre pedal powered aircraft. It first flew on 23 May 2012 and competed in that years Royal Aeronautical Society’s Icarus Cup competition, held in Hampshire from July 13th to the 23rd, finishing second overall.
