Bastin

T.H. Bastin

History

Thomas Hugh Bastin was born in 1860 at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, the son of John and Karon Bastin. He designed a flapping-wing machine driven by a steam engine. Little else is known of this machine, built between 1900 and 1902 in Clapham, London, except that it had four wings of 25ft span and was 50ft long.

Bastin died 3 Jun 1909 in Surrey.
