Beaumont

W.R.L. Beaumont

History

W.R.L. Beaumont (possibly W.R. Lestrange Beaumont, born in India in 1894), a member of the Birmingham Aero Club, built a biplane glider in 1914. On 8 February, on taking it out for its initial trials without any assistance, the machine was blown across the airfield, presumably the Club airfield at Billesley Farm, and destroyed.

A power driven monoplane was reported as nearing completion and to be ready about autumn that year but nothing more was heard.
