Boscombe Down Design Syndicate


History

The Boscombe Down Design Syndicate, A.A.E.E., Boscombe Down, Wilts, designed the winning entrant in the racing aircraft category of the 1953 R.Ae.S Design Competition.

Leading members of the syndicate were: Allen Henry Wheeler CBE FRAeS (b. 27 September 1903 – d. 1 January 1984), director of the A. & A.E.E., Boscombe Down; Handel Davies (b. 2June 2 1912 – d. 28 April 2003), chief superintendent; F. H. Beer, superintendent of engineering; and R. E. Webster, chief draughtsman.

Despite its success in the completion, it was never built.
