Bird, B.
Alan Bryn Bird was educated Queen Mary College, University
of London, between 1965 and 1968. During the 1980’s and 90’s, while a partner Whitby and Bird (Civil Engineers),
Bird built at least two, and possibly four, prototype ornithopters using more modern materials and a larger wing area than
any previous ornithopter attempt. There are no reports of successful flapping flight. In March 1998 Bird retired from Whitby
and Bird, becoming a consultant to be able to spend more time developing his own inventions. Since 2008, he has been Shareholder
and Director at Erg Motor Vehicles Limited.
