Production Summary
Birmingham Guild BG-100/12 Gypsy
(Also known as the Moore Gypsy) A cantilever shoulder-wing monoplane low cost lightweight Standard/Sports Class sailplane intended to be either a medium-performance 12m wing or a high performance 15m one could be fitted to a common fuselage. The shoulder mounted wings were of 12m span and constant chord with square tips, and of light alloy structure with polyurethane foam cores and 0.0124 in (0.3 mm) light alloy skins. Ailerons and flaps occupied the whole of the trailing edge. The Gypsy featured a constant chord V-tail, constructed in the same manner as the wing. Its fuselage behind the nose was an oval section metal monocoque with a long, smooth, bulged canopy over the single seat cockpit. The aircraft featured all-moving V-tail surfaces with anti-balance tabs, and there was a single, semi-protruding fixed mono wheel under the wing and a small tailwheel.
The BG-100/13.5 Gypsy was the BG-100/12 Gypsy rebuilt with a 13.5m span wing and an increased span tailplane of higher aspect ratio.
